Tigers Take State Title; Panthers, Crew, Strikers Second at State Championships
Beach United Football Club crowned one state champion and three state finalists at the 2017 Publix Palmetto Academy Cup over the weekend of May 6-7.
The BUFC Tigers left little doubt about the top team in the state in the U-10 Girls White Division, defeating SCUFC 4-0 in the championship game. The Tigers went 4-0 and did not allow a goal en route to claiming the state championship.
The BUFC Panthers came out on the short end of a tiebreaker to Liverpool Redknapp to settle for second in the U-12 Girls Academy Red division. Both teams finished the round-robin event atop the standings with seven points apiece, but Liverpool took a 2-1 win in the head-to-head matchup.
The BUFC Crew went 3-0 to reach the championship match of the U-10 Boys Academy Blue division before suffering a tough 4-3 defeat in the finals to SCUFC White.
The BUFC Strikers went undefeated over the weekend but settled for second place to Liverpool Hamann via a tiebreaker in the U-11 Boys Academy White division. The Strikers went 2-0-2 and defeated Liverpool head to head by a 3-2 score, but the two ties costs them the title.
Other State Cup contenders includes the BUFC Force, which went 2-1, and the Crush and Lions, who went 1-2.
Beach United Football Club is a Myrtle Beach-based youth soccer organization that offers top-level instruction and competition for boys and girls ages 6-18.
