Eight teams close Fall Season at Wilmington, North Carolina tournament
The Myrtle Beach-based Beach United Football Club sent eight teams to Wilmington, North Carolina over the weekend of Nov. 18-19 to close out the fall season in the Beach Soccer Classic.
The BUFC Crew went undefeated in four games to capture the U-11 Boys Bronze title. The Crew won their opener and tied their second game 2-2, and they had a big day Sunday with wins of 10-0 and 2-0 in the final to claim the championship.
The BUFC Strikers turned in a strong second-place showing in the U-12 Boys Bronze bracket, winning their three pool games by one goal in each match. They ran out magic in the final 5-1 to the host Cape Fear club.
The BUFC Force suffered only one loss by one goal, but it was enough to cost them a shot at the U-13 Boys Silver title. The Force scored a 5-0 win on Saturday but tied their Sunday match to miss out on a spot in the playoffs.
The BUFC Lions won their opening game 6-1 but ran into some tough teams the rest of the way in the U-10 Boys Division.
The BUFC Storm had three close matches but came away empty in the U-14 Boys division, losing by scores of 2-0, 1-0 and 2-1.
In girls action, the BUFC Tigers suffered a pair of tough losses on Saturday but ended on a winning note with a 2-1 victory on Sunday in the U-11 Girls division.
The BUFC Crush played four hard-fought games in the U-12 Silver, winning 2-1 Sunday and tying 1-1 Saturday, but falling 2-1 and 2-0 in their other matches.
The BUFC Panthers went undefeated in the U-13 Silver bracket on the weekend but failed to reach the final. They tied 2-2 and 0-0 Saturday before winning 3-0 Sunday but it wasn't enough to advance.
